Job Summary

The Database Administrator provides support that encompasses all tasks necessary in the management of software and IT applications including design, development, maintenance, improvement, conversion, and data migration. Conducts studies related to information systems planning. Analyzes system specifications and translate system requirements to task specifications. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Establish staging databases from another database based on certain criteria
  • Copy all tables with some data restriction into an empty database shell
  • Refresh database(s) as needed
  • Provide data pulls to the DHS staging environment per the requirements of the CG-86 Data Cleanup & Conversion Team
  • Provide assistance with the creation, editing and testing of scripts for the extraction and manipulation of data as directed by the CG-86 Data Cleanup & Conversion Team
  • Provide assistance with access to data in “Read Only” instance of CAS Suite – as directed by the CG-86 Data Cleanup & Conversion Team
  • Participate in joint (USCG) coordination meetings; and (8) participate in CG-86 Data Cleanup & Conversion Team meetings
  • Writes, edits, and debugs computer programs, including necessary records and desired output
  • Coordinate with Data Cleanup & Conversion Team to ensure the data in the templates conforms to the business rules embedded in the template
  • Assist CG-86 Team with Unique Data Crosswalks
  • Support CG-86 Team specific and common crosswalks including the population of DOI templates
  • The Database Administrator will work on site at the USCG Headquarters. 

Qualifications and Skills

  • BS/BA degree required in IT, Math, or other related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in IT related field
  • Experience with PL/SQL required
  • Some understanding of federal financial (FFMS) and Oracle 12 desired
  •  Access Data Base experience required
